Google Analytics 4 Migration FAQs?
We want to help you continue tracking activity on your WordPress website, so we recommend migrating to Google Analytics 4 before July 1, 2023. That’s when support for Standard Properties in GA3 (Universal Analytics) will end. The sooner you migrate, the sooner you can start taking advantage of all the latest features GA4 has to offer.
The transition can be complex if your website has multiple data streams, tracking goals, eCommerce tracking, and more.
To ensure a smooth migration process, we offer a base package for $150 that covers setting up a new datastream and installation through either Google Tag Manager or directly on the website itself. We also check to ensure the tag is firing correctly and filter out any internal traffic from the data stream. Lastly, we set up a Looker Studio Dashboard to review both GA4 and Universal Analytics tracking data simultaneously.
Contact us to discuss your migration needs and what, if any, additional requirements you have on top of the base GA 4 migration package.
Once you’ve granted us access to your Google Analytics account and WordPress Website, we’ll get the data stream tag added within 24 hours. The Looker Studio should then start seeing the data within a further 24 hours, so the basic setup should be up and running in about two days.
Additional time might be necessary if you need conversion setups or testing completed. Rest assured that we’ll do our best to get it all done as quickly as possible!
Gaining access to your Google Analytics account is easy! Check out this handy 96-second video that’ll show you exactly how to add new user accounts in a jiffy.
Dual tracking with Universal Analytics and Google Analytics 4 puts the power of two platforms in your hands. It is a great way to compare user behaviour, as well as grow accustomed to the new features and advantages that come with Google Analytics 4. Plus, you’ll already have collected data via both platforms for when Universal Analytics stops running after July 1st, 2023 – so you don’t miss a beat!
Finding out what version of Google Analytics you’re using is easy! Here are three steps to help you find out:
Check out builtwith.com – this website can show which analytics platform your website is using
2. Take a look at the source code on your website and see if it includes Google Analytics-related tags
3. Log into your Google Analytics account and check the properties section. If all you can see are property tags that start with ‘UA-‘ then you’ll need to set up Google Analytics 4 as soon as possible!
And finally, if all else fails, just ask us for help! We can take a peek at your site and let you know.
Looker Studio (previously called Googe Data Studio) helps you make the most of your data with engaging, eye-catching dashboards and reports that are simple to customize and share. Best of all – it’s free!
Identifying customer actions that have value for your business is what we call conversions. These may include shopping in your store, submitting contact forms, and subscribing to newsletters. By tracking and analyzing these activities, you will gain an understanding of which tactics are most beneficial to your organization and use that knowledge to optimize your marketing strategies.
After July 2023, you’ll be able to keep viewing your Universal Analytics data for at least 6 months. After that, the Google Analytics platform won’t have access to your historical information anymore. So don’t wait – make sure you transition to GA4 before then and gain the advantage of keeping track of all your analytics data for 2023!
