What I Actually Do All Day in WordPress

I live under the hood of WordPress.

Most of my work happens behind the scenes, where reliability, performance, and stability are decided. Over hundreds of builds, rescues, and rebuilds, my day-to-day work typically includes:

• Designing and modifying custom themes, child themes, and page templates so sites stay clean, maintainable, and update-safe
• Architecting content using custom post types, taxonomies, and WP_Query loops for portfolios, events, directories, and complex content models
• Building custom Gutenberg blocks and design systems using ACF, Gutenberg, Tailwind, and modern WordPress tooling
• Writing custom plugins — from small utility tools to large, business-critical functionality
• Implementing Advanced Custom Fields (ACF) and creating admin dashboards that make content management intuitive instead of painful
• Debugging and resolving fatal errors, white screens, plugin conflicts, and update failures using logs, staging environments, and proper testing
• Managing WordPress migrations (local → staging → live, host-to-host, or stack changes) with minimal downtime and rollback plans
• Hardening site security: malware cleanup, file permissions, login protection, backups, and tested recovery workflows
